Svensk-Indonesiska Sällskapet (Swedish-Indonesian Society, Asosiasi Swedia Indonesia) is an independent, non-political and non-profit organisation with the mission to strengthen the bilateral realationship between Indonesia and Sweden. We are dedicated to fostering friendship and understanding between our countries, and in the same way deepen the relationship between Indonesia and Sweden and their people. Members include Indonesian living in Sweden, and olso people who have worked, studied, travelled or found their love of their life in Indonesia.
We aim to strengthen the friendship realationship between both countries by arranging regular programs of events for our members. This can include webinar, social gathering and educational events, sharing information on a wide variety of topics related to Indonesia in all our forums.
Considering that Indonesia is te world's fourth most populated country (274 million) and third largest democracy, Indonesia do have importance to Sweden. We aspire to enlarge mutual understanding in culture, history and social matters. Indoneia has a large growing market for Swedish export in South East Asia. Indonesia is rich in natural resources such as mineral reserves in nickel (Indonesia is ranked as the third on a global level) and gold (second after China). Other narutal resources include coal, copper, oil and natural gas. No wonder as many as 90 Swedish companies are established in Indonesia! Sweden and Indonesia have had diplomatic realationship since 1950 which means a friendship between both these democraties that ha lasted for more than 70 years!
Swedish-Indonesian Society (SIS) was established in 1977 by parents to adopted children born in Indonesia, and the Indonesian embassy in Stockholm.
We would love to get in contact with anyone interested in Indonesia who share our mission to enhace mutual understandings between our diferent culture on the basis of equality and reciprocity.
